Proper selection of a Solid State Relay/Solid State Contactor to reliably start and stop a motor in each application requires an understanding of the demands placed on the Solid State Control by the motor and application.

SCHAFFNER FN2580 SERIES LINE FILTER FOR LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

Schaffner recently introduced a new single-phase EMC filter dedicated to high voltage LED lighting applications for the US and Canadian market.

The usual voltage level for such applications is 277VAC in US and 347VAC in Canada. These voltages are derived from single phase usage in three phase grids. Canada with usual 600VAC grid gives single phase voltage of 600VAC/sqrt(3)~ 347VAC and 480VAC in US gives single phase voltage of 480VAC/sqrt(3) ~277VAC.

The new parts are very compact and are designed specifically for lighting applications with enhanced EMC performance at target frequencies along with an extended operational temperature range.
